With the revival of ’60s, ’70s, and even ’80s over the past few seasons, it’s no wonder the power suit is back and better than ever. We saw models suited up in classic pant suits on the runways of big names like Celine, Alexander McQueen, and Calvin Klein and we fell in love. It seems like the rules are out the window when it comes to the fabric, colour, and pattern of Fall’s must-have look. I opted for a more retro brown houndstooth look from Zara and am fully embracing the return of the shoulder pad.
While I chose to keep it consistent in my matching ensemble, you can bet you’ll be seeing this blazer in a million different outfits over the next few months. High-waisted palazzo pants, a pleated metallic midi-skirt, a shift dress…the possibilities are endless with a classic piece like this.
The cherry on top of this look is really this Birkin bag. No, sadly not that Birkin bag. The Birkin before the Birkin is a round straw basket bag perfect for carrying your freshly baked bread (à la Parisienne). Although you can scoop up one of these lookalikes at a few online shops, I would highly recommend taking a look on Etsy. This one was hand-made from Portugal and I bought it from an Etsy shop. The best part about fast-fashion is that everyone can experience it, and the worst part about fast-fashion is that everyone can experience it. Having a unique piece like this makes your wardrobe more exciting and interesting and is worth the investment.
