I have been in love with New York City for as long as I can remember. Coming from the tiny town of Essex, Ontario I craved the big city. In fact, my band trip to NYC in high school was my first “non-family” trip and is consequently where my wanderlust was born. After realizing that nine years had gone by since I had visited the Big Apple, I decided it was time to go back. Thankfully, my Mom agreed to come with me and brave the heat, subways, and crowded streets of New York City. The very first thing we did was walk to Central Park to take a ride on the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir.
I wore a floral dress from Zara and my boater hat- fashionable and useful for sun protection. You’ve seen this dress before, it’s one of my favourites. I added a leather vest as a transition piece; after all, we are approaching my favourite season, Fall.
It seems kind of cheesy to ride in a row boat at Central Park, but it was just so much fun! As much as I’d like to call myself a New Yorker, I’m 100% the annoying tourist that real New Yorkers despise. I guess I’ll just have to keep going back!
Have you ever done anything cheesy as a tourist?
