To quote my Dad, “This place is so freakin’ cute!” It’s a pretty good summary of Bibury, one of the small towns of the Cotswolds in the United Kingdom. I had seen pictures of this cottage-studded town and knew I had to see it for myself. Unfortunately, it’s pretty secluded, which meant we couldn’t take a train there. So we bravely navigated the backwards streets of the English country side to feast our eyes on the adorable cottages of the Cotswolds.
We spent three days sight-seeing and eating and we stayed at The Catherine Wheel, which serves the most delicious sticky toffee pudding- it’s a must-have!
I wore a floral dress and trench coat (both Zara), due to the always imminent threat of rain. And despite my rambling about how comfortable expensive shoes are, I wore a pair of black flats from Ardene that cost less than $15. I absolutely love these flats. They have no support, but I’ve never had a blister from them either. Also, because they’re inexpensive I can wear them constantly without feeling bad about throwing them out at the end of the trip (which I did). If you’re looking for a simple faux leather flat (in any colour) Ardene should be your go-to store!
We visited Arlington Row (a few times) to gawk at the beautiful cottages all covered in greenery.
My favourite meal was our dinner at The Swan Hotel. I had a stunning butternut squash parmesan risotto. Seriously, absolutely delicious. (And then we went back to The Catherine Wheel for some more sticky toffee pudding.)
I love finding these old-world towns, but they seem to be hidden away and hard to find. Do you know of any other beautiful towns I should visit?
