If you followed my Italy posts, you’ll know that I was so surprised to have fallen madly in love with Florence. Similarly, I fell in love with York in a matter of minutes despite being pretty unenthusiastic about the small city. After checking into The Judges’ Lodgings, Dad and I headed out to find beautiful architecture, double fried fries, and fabulous live music in the cutest city square.
I wore this ruffled top and culottes from Club Monaco paired with the Hermès scarf I bought in Glasgow. You know that I love finding little vintage shops, especially in Europe (if you’re going to Paris, you need to check out Réciproque!), so when I stumbled upon Isabella’s Wardrobe in Glasgow I was thrilled. This place is an absolute gem. In fact, I also picked up the Lady Web bag that I wore with a striped Zara dress during our second day in York. Thankfully, you don’t have to travel all the way to Glasgow because she ships internationally!
We then went to see “The Shambles”, which is a street dating back to the fourteenth century that used to house butcher shops. Now, you can shop for anything from fudge to Harry Potter wands. Basically, it’s a must-see spot in York.
We finished the day with the best dessert ever: sticky toffee pudding. We were riding on a tram in London and an English couple told us that if we were going to have dessert that it had to be sticky toffee pudding. It’s this moist cake, soaked in warm toffee, and covered with either custard or ice cream. We tried it for the first time at the Catherine Wheel in Bibury and ate it almost daily after that!
Day two took us for a walk around the city walls- a great way to see the city!
Finally, we took a boat cruise along the river and enjoyed our last few moments of peace and sunshine before taking the train back to London to catch our flight to Canada.
I hope I’ve inspired your fashion choices and ignited a wanderlust that you didn’t know you had! I had a blast touring around the United Kingdom with my Dad and can’t wait to share my next adventure with you.
