#ThrowbackThursday: The Water in Zürich

Outfit details:

Since this is a throwback post, my outfit items are no longer for sale, but I’ve found you some similar (if not more fashionable) items!

Tommy Hilfiger ruffle top (more fashionable here), Zara shorts (more fashionable here)

Although I had heard wonderful things about Switzerland, Zürich far surpassed my expectations. This beautiful city can be summed up in one word: fun. From the second my Mom and I got there it was a fabulously fun adventure. We stayed at Hotel Krone on Schaffhauserstrasse 1, a quick walk down to Old Zürich (Altstadt). To get there, we walked along the Limmat River and quickly realized that this river was beautiful and pristine. The water in Zürich is unlike any water I’ve ever seen. People were jumping from bridges and swimming leisurely all over the city. It all just looked so fun!

The first thing we did was head down to check out the shops along the beautiful windy roads in Altstadt. The main shopping street, Bahnhofstrasse, is lined with luxe designer boutiques like you’ve never seen!

We also made sure to check out two of Zürich’s historic churches, Grossmünster and Fraumünster.

One of the most beautiful things about Zürich was the flocks of ethereal swans you could find everywhere.

My absolute favourite part of Zürich, and of my entire European trip, was swimming in Lake Zürich (Zürichsee). We had had a long, hot day of walking around the city and one of the last things on our list was to make our way down to the lake. I was tired and cranky and wanted to go back to the hotel, but my Mom pushed me into going. I am so glad that she did. It was so warm in Zürich and the water was so cool. It was clean and clear and I could look straight down to the bottom of the lake. I felt the seaweed in between my toes and little fish brushing against my legs. And there were swans swimming all around me. Not to mention the breathtaking view. It was so wonderful that we went back the next day to swim again. If I could recommend one thing to you it would be to absolutely go for a swim in that lake- it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

I wore an (old but comfy) orange frilled Tommy Hilfiger tank and a pair of Zara shorts I bought in Zürich over my blank bandeau bikini. I paired that with a pair of Tory Burch flip flops (not pictured). Layering my bikini under my outfit was critical to enjoying myself since it was so ridiculously warm.

On our last day in Zürich we took a trip up the city’s closest mountain, Üetliberg. The view was stunning!

Zürich  is a fun, vibrant city that took my breath away! From beautiful Atlsdadt to pristine Lake Zürich to the top of Mount Üetliberg, Zürich has something for everyone. I would go back just to swim with those swans again. Lake Zürich was not on my bucket list, but it absolutely should have been.

What is your favourite vacation memory? I’m always looking for new bucket list items!
